Cherokee County: The Next Step In Rapid Growth

Atlanta is a constantly growing and evolving Metropolitan Area. And, as more and more major companies move their operations south, both established and new Atlantans are looking to head north. Nowhere has Atlanta’s economic development been more prolific than in the ‘Northern Arc’ towns of Roswell, Alpharetta, and Canton (a major town in Cherokee County). Located in the eastern part of the county, this tract combines beautiful mountain views, a major river, and churning rapids to create a unique setting within a rapidly growing area. This unique location makes The Etowah River Tract one of, if not the last remaining opportunities of its kind in Metropolitan Atlanta.

With an attractive commuting distance to the economic hubs of Atlanta, the Cherokee County lifestyle appeals to people of all ages. The county doesn’t rely solely on its proximity to the city for growth, however. A diverse economy, outstanding recreational amenities, progressive public services, efficient transportation systems, and expanding educational advantages are all driving factors in the appeal of Cherokee County.

According to the Atlanta Regional Commission, Cherokee County saw the second highest growth rate in the Atlanta Region in the boom of the 1990’s when its population grew by 49%. Between 1990-1998, the Northern Arc of counties accounted for two-thirds of the population growth and three-fourths of all job growth in the Atlanta Metro Area. Today, almost 80% of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell MSA lives within the ten-county core that includes Cherokee County and since 2010, the county itself has seen a yearly population growth of 2.4%. By 2020 the Atlanta region is predicted to add 1.8 million people and create 1.2 million jobs.
